Slow the progression of your child’s nearsightedness.
Does your child have difficulty seeing distant objects?
Myopia (nearsightedness) typically starts to develop in childhood and often progresses until about age 20.
Slowing the progression is important because it may reduce the risk of developing serious eye conditions later in life such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and blindness.
D'Allura Eye Care uses the following in controlling myopia in pediatric patients:
Atropine Eye Drops
Topical atropine dilates the pupil and relaxes the eye’s focus. Studies show that low-dose atropine can slow myopia progression in children. Widely used in myopia management for years, it’s considered a safe and effective option.
Essilor Stellest Lenses
Unlike standard single vision lenses that simply sharpen distance vision, Stellest lenses are specially designed with advanced optical technology to both correct vision and help signal the eye to slow its elongation, a key factor in worsening myopia. Clinical studies have shown that Stellest lenses can significantly reduce myopia progression in children compared to traditional glasses.
They look and feel like regular glasses, making them an easy, non-invasive option for kids to wear every day. By starting myopia control early, we can help reduce the risk of higher prescription which directly correlate to eye health complications, like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration later in life.
MiSight® 1 Day Contact Lenses
Working similarly to Essilor’s Stellest lenses, the MiSight® 1 day contact lenses are also designed specifically to correct vision and slow the progression of myopia, in soft contact lens form.
These daily disposable lenses are comfortable, convenient, and easy to fit into an active child’s lifestyle. Being a daily lens, they do not require any cleaning solution, but are replaced every day. For many kids, contact lenses also provide greater confidence and freedom in sports and school activities.
