Your optometrist will decide which tests to run based on your previous medical history but most people get a pretty standard set of tests done. These typically include:
Most eye care professionals recommend routine eye examinations at least once a year to maintain optimal vision and detect potential issues early. However, the appropriate frequency of eye exams can vary depending on factors such as age, existing risk factors for eye disease, and whether an individual wears corrective lenses. According to the American Optometric Association, children should receive their first eye examination at approximately six months of age, followed by additional exams at age three, prior to starting school, and then every two years until age 18. For adults, comprehensive eye examinations are generally recommended at least every two years up to age 60, and annually thereafter for individuals aged 61 and older.
Please note that a comprehensive eye examination does not typically include a contact lens fitting, and a separate appointment may be required for this service. When scheduling your visit, kindly inform us if you require a contact lens fitting so we can ensure the appropriate arrangements are made and your appointment proceeds efficiently.
