What are my options for lenses?
There are many eyeglass lens options available. Your eye care provider will take your lifestyle and vision correction needs into consideration when helping you select the right lenses for your eyes.
- Transition lenses – These lenses are made from materials that can adapt on the fly to the surrounding light levels - so they automatically adjust & you don't need to. They can even replace your prescription sunglasses and give you that extra layer of protection against those nasty UV rays.
- UV coated lenses – UV coating can be slapped on regular eyeglasses ,as long as the lens isn't made from polycarbonate, of course. When we do add the coating it's completely transparent - so you won't even notice it's there.
- Tinted sunglass lenses – If you are getting your hands on prescription sunglasses, it might be a good idea to look at tinted eyeglasses instead. They look like shades and will still keep the UV rays out of your peepers, but technically they aren't 'real' sunglasses.
- Scratch-resistant coating – A scratch resistant coating that keeps your glass lenses from looking all scratched and battered. Protection is especially handy for kids' eye glasses, because let's face it, kids can be pretty rough on their gear.
- Plastic lenses – Plastic lenses cut the weight of your glasses right down, so if you're one of those people who hate the feeling of glasses sliding down your nose - this super-lightweight alternative might be just what you need.
- Thinner lenses – Polycarbonate lenses really do make a big difference to how chunky your specs look - they thin them right down so your glasses have a sleeker, more streamlined look. And the best part is - thinner lenses come in a range of options from just thin to extra thin all the way up to the absolute thinnest out there.
- Anti-glare lenses – Anti-glare lenses, also known as anti-reflective (AR) lenses, are specially coated eyewear lenses designed to reduce reflections from surfaces such as computer screens, headlights, and overhead lighting. This coating allows more light to pass through the lens rather than bouncing off it, resulting in clearer, sharper vision and less eye strain—especially in low-light conditions or during prolonged screen use. Anti-glare lenses are particularly beneficial for people who drive at night, work on digital devices, or spend long hours under artificial lighting, as they help minimize glare and improve visual comfort.
