Telemedicine lets you set up a video consultation with your eye doctor from the comfort of your own home, the office, or anywhere you might happen to be. All you need is a device with a camera internet – a phone, laptop, or tablet will all do.
To schedule your appointment, call our office or book your appointment online. We will contact you with a date, time, and instructions for the virtual visit. We may also ask you some triage questions to determine if a virtual appointment is right for you.
Am I eligible for a virtual visit?
It usually depends on what your eye care needs are. Telemedicine is best suited for following up on visits, keeping an eye on an existing eye problem, or just getting some guidance on whether your symptoms need a doctor’s attention – like :
those painful red or itchy eyes
when you’ve got an allergy that’s messing up your peepers
pink eye
that annoying twitching in the corner of your eye
anything that’s messing with your vision
Can telemedicine be used for emergencies?
Virtual visits arent meant for emergencies, however. If youve got a real emergency on your hands, call us right up and we will guide you through it otherwise, just dial 911.
There are some situations where its definitely better to get help right away – things like:
when you think youve got some kind of eye infection
if there’s glass metal or something floating around in your eye
if youve gouged or poked your eye in some way
if youve splashed something in your eye that really hurts
if your vision goes dark all of a sudden
if youve got some scratches from a foreign object
if you start seeing floaters or flashes of light out of nowhere
Will my insurance pay for video visits?
This varies from company to company but your insurance will get billed, and you may have to cough up a copay. You might get asked to supply your insurance details or pay up before you get the link for your visit.
